A night out celebrating a friend's birthday. Eric is quite the dancing machine and it appears that I was actually letting him lead for once.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any photos of the actual day. However, the grandparents and Uncle Scott came for a visit on Sunday to celebrate again and there are a few great pictures of the kids. These are two of my favorites

All Hallows' Eve 2009

The only thing scary about this year's Halloween is my camera work -- it definitely needs some help.

Sisters

I finally let Kate hold her baby sister tonight. Meg lights up when Kate is near her with a huge smile - it's very cute. Kate was very gentle with her sister and gave her lots of hugs. Upon asking her to smile and trying to get her to look at the camera by asking her if she wanted an apple she immediately forgot about the precious cargo in her lap and made a run for the kitchen.

Meg loves to sit up in her seat and show us her pearly gums.

Already 2 Months

... and almost as tall as her sister, Kate. Not quite, but at Megan's 2 month appt today she measured 75th percentile for height - whereas our petite Kate hovers in the 10th. It's only a matter of time.(Not the best quality picture but all I had with me at the time of this particular smile was my phone)

Sisters

This reminds of one of those cards you'd buy for an old friend with a picture two older women doing something a bit out of the ordinary. I suspect that this is just the first of picture of these two looking goofy, getting into mischief, or generally just loving being with each other.

Finger (Body) Painting with Pudding

I'm working on adjusting to being a (temporary) stay-at-home mother with both girls and coming up with activities for Kate. This particular project lasted 15 minutes and clean-up required much more (Kate, table, Kate, floor, Kate, etc.) This particular joyride happened while the girls and I spent a few days in Cheyenne with the grandparents. Please note Megan's look of absolute fear as she watches her big sister's masterpiece in progress.

Book Worm

Kate is a great big sister (knock on wood) and does a great job of entertaining herself when need be. This particular day she nestled herself in between the chair, wall and end table and read to herself (albeit upside down) for at least 15 minutes -- which is half the time it takes to nurse Megan. The other 15 minutes she spent harassing Carl.

I also would like to accept volunteers to teach me how to use my camera. The same camera (and person) took the photo of Kate and the below photo of Megan at three weeks? Why is one so good and the other so not?!

Earning Her Keep

Just in time for her little brother or sister to come, Kate has really stepped it up a level and started chipping in around the house. She's a big fan of wiping down everything...everything.

Happy Fourth of July

Kate and I have been spending some time in Cheyenne with the Grandparents. One of the highlights has been the purchase of her fancy new kicks - just in time to celebrate the Fourth!

Sunday Morning on the Patio

Kate and Eric enjoyed a leisurely Sunday morning on the back patio reading and having coffee (Eric) and tea (Kate). Grandma and Grandpa got her a fancy tea set that sings and counts and even makes sounds when it pours. Kate LOVES it.

Memorial Day Hike

Eric and Kate while hiking at Bergen Park. We got lucky and just missed the torrential downpour. Despite the expression on her face, she is still a fan of the pack.

Tough Day at School

Eric recently began the Executive MBA program at Denver University. He took this particular day off from work to study and prep for class. I think it was tougher on him than a day at the office. Kate apparently had an equally difficult day.

TP!!!

I should have known that the silence meant she was up to something. This happened in a matter of moments but she loved playing it in for at least 10 minutes.

Walking & Climbing!

Kate is walking(ish) - she definitely still prefers to crawl. However, she really enjoys scaling the stairs and this morning attempted to walk down them.

Eric started a new tradition by making Kate's cake for her. I have to admit it was pretty impressive for his first cake and Kate loved it.

1 Year Old!

Hooray!

We recently went to AZ to visit my parents and one evening we were able to have dinner with our old family friends, The Eggemeyers. Kate is still cheering about what a great time she had. Thanks for the photo, Peggy!! It's our new favorite.

Hut Trip!

This weekend we took our first family Hut Trip. We hiked in 2.5 miles to a hut that was surprising well equiped with solar electricity, running water and an indoor toilet! Kate loved it and even had her first sled ride.
